MTV VMAs 2026 Winners The Complete Rundown
Madonna dominated the MTV VMAs 2026 winners list, walking away with seven Moon Person trophies. Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” was crowned the night’s top video also BTS left with a trophy for every category they entered.
The show was held on Sunday September 27, at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater, with Snoop Dogg as host. Fans are already arguing over who deserved what.
MTV VMAs 2026 Winners Madonna Owns the Night
Madonna arrived as one of the top nominees and lived up to it. Her final tally reached seven, and the biggest prize among them was Artist of the Year.
Her short film Confessions II also brought home the revived Best Dance trophy. That category had not been handed out since 2019.
Meanwhile, Madonna opened the show alongside Sabrina Carpenter with “Bring Your Love.” It was her first VMAs performance in 23 years.
The pair later took Best Collaboration for that song. Madonna also shared that Carpenter needed five days to answer her first message.
Taylor Swift’s VMAs 2026 Wins
“The Fate of Ophelia” gave Swift the night’s top video prize. Her “Opalite” clip earned a second trophy, for direction.
Swift was also the first person ever handed the new Artist Director Honors. Dakota Johnson presented it, and she stars in Swift’s new video, “Patient Zero,” which premiered during the show.
Notably, Swift’s total now stands at 32 Moon Persons. That puts her clear of Beyoncé, who had been level with her, and no act in the show’s history owns more. She dedicated the top prize to Dolly Parton, whom she called the “ultimate showgirl.”
BTS VMAs 2026 Sweep – Three Nominations, Three Wins
“Swim” carried BTS to the Song of the Year prize. The group added Best K-Pop and the fan-voted Best Group, so every nomination turned into a win.
No Asian group had taken Song of the Year before. Rosé of BLACKPINK became the first Asian act to win it last year, for “APT.” with Bruno Mars.
The Best K-Pop win is BTS’s fourth, a category record. Best Group is their fifth, the most any act has collected there.
However, all three trophies were given out away from the live telecast, and the group did not attend. They said their album Arirang “feels like a new beginning.”
“Swim” is the lead single from that album their fifth. It arrived in March after a break of nearly four years and debuted at No. 1 on the US singles chart.
Lisa Wins Best Pop at the 2026 VMAs
BLACKPINK’s Lisa won the Best Pop prize with “Dream,” featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi. Her rivals in that field included Swift, Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae and Charli xcx.
She also performed during the show. However, BLACKPINK’s group track “Jump” lost the Best K-Pop race to BTS.
