Avengers Endgame Encore Box Office Latest Update
The Avengers Endgame Encore box office run has set a new opening weekend record for a re-release in India. Trade estimates put the three-day haul at Rs 25.75 crore gross, or about Rs 21.25 crore nett.
That beats the previous best for a re-release Baahubali The Epic, which made Rs 26.50 crore including 3D charges. Encore reached Rs 27.75 crore gross on the same basis.
Avengers Endgame Encore Box Office – How the Weekend Played Out
Friday opened at around Rs 8 crore gross, roughly Rs 6.5 crore nett. That is the biggest opening day for a Hollywood re-release in India.
Among all re-releases, only Baahubali The Epic opened bigger on Day 1.
However the film could have gone even higher. Several strong cinemas ran only two or three shows a day, which capped Friday’s number.
Consequently, business spilled over into the weekend. Sunday alone added roughly Rs 8.75 crore.
Notably, that growth is unusual. Re-releases normally fade after the first day.
How the Forecasts Held Up
Early estimates floated numbers anywhere between Rs 10 crore and Rs 20 crore nett. Day 1 landed lower at about Rs 6.5 crore nett.
Meanwhile, the weekend total crossed Rs 21 crore nett. In other words the demand was there but limited shows spread it across three days.
Global Picture and Competition
Trade estimates place India among the film’s top three overseas markets behind only China and the United Kingdom.
The film also topped the North American weekend chart, ahead of Primetime and Heart of the Beast. Back home Encore is not running unopposed. Nani’s The Paradise, Resident Evil, also Movie Mirzapur and Hanuman Ansh are all still in theatres.
Avengers Endgame Encore Advance Booking Where It Started
Trade tracking gave the clearest picture before release. PVR INOX and Cinepolis had sold around 35,000 tickets for the opening day. Across all chains, Day 1 admissions stood near 50,000. Meanwhile, the opening weekend total sat at roughly 1.25 lakh tickets.
Before release, advance sales had grossed about Rs 6.25 crore. Notably, that figure came before walk-in crowds arrived.
Here is a quick way to read the numbers. The 35,000 figure covered only two national chains for Day 1, while 1.25 lakh covered the whole opening weekend.
How the Booking Momentum Built Up
The climb had been steady. Sales opened with a limited rollout at some premium screens, and several centers had not gone live yet.
BookMyShow reported over 7,300 tickets in its first 24 hours. The platform also logged more than 1.55 lakh expressions of interest.
Soon afterwards, overall sales crossed 25,000 tickets, worth around Rs 1.50 crore. Consequently, trade watchers started raising their forecasts.
Chennai was among the metro centers still waiting to open at that stage. In other words, the early numbers did not show the full demand.
Why Fans Rushed In Bonus Footage and a Doomsday Sneak Peek
This was not a plain rerun. The Encore cut adds around four minutes of bonus footage and a new post-credits scene.
It also carries an exclusive sneak peek at Avengers: Doomsday. Fans were told to plan for a long sitting, since the film runs 3 hours 10 minutes.
However not every screen got everything. Reports say the new post-credits scene plays only in IMAX and Infinity Vision screens.
That explained the rush for premium seats. The costliest ticket in the country sits at Rs 940.
Languages and Premium Formats
The film released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Consequently fans in several language markets could book shows.
PVR Sangam in Chakala, Mumbai, was among the first Infinity Vision-certified screens. Trade sources expect more certified cinemas soon, including in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai.
Can Endgame Reclaim Its Box Office Crown?
The original film set a high bar in 2019. It was the highest-grossing Hollywood film in India at the time of its release.
Since then, Avatar The Way of Water and Spider-Man Brand New Day have overtaken it. Consequently, the top spot has been up for grabs.
Given the strong advance and the record-breaking weekend, fans are asking whether Endgame can win it back. Trade watchers admit it will not be easy, but call it far from far-fetched. After this weekend, trade watchers are eyeing the top spot among Hollywood releases in India.
The 2019 Benchmark
The original run also made booking history. In April 2019, BookMyShow said it had sold more than 2.5 million advance tickets in India.
That was a record for a foreign film at the time. A re-release could not match those numbers, but it opened strong all the same.
What Encore Means for Avengers Doomsday
Marvel has timed this release smartly. Avengers Doomsday is scheduled for December 18, 2026, less than three months away.
The Encore response bodes well for that film. Trade watchers read it as proof of Marvel’s box office clout in India.
The brand took a hit in recent years but interest looks alive again. Hence the Doomsday sneak peek was a big part of the pitch.
